In sympathy and with prayers, Sue Shaw Messerly
Charlie was a most likable character. I will always be thankful that he stayed at the Firecracker stand when I sensed that another customer could have posed a threat to us. I quietly whispered to Charlie to please stay until that person left and Charlie very possibly could have helped to prevent a bad situation. That left a very impressionable mark on us. Thank you, Charlie. Also want to share that I have had the honor and privilege of working with Aiden Lee here in a Lawrence preschool-so tickled to see Andy when he came to get Aiden after school. God bless you all.

I met Charlie in September 1963 as a 4th grader. We were good friends, teammates and classmates all that time. Even Sunday School participants with all those Nazarene kids, those were all friendship building time. So happy you were one of that "gang of '72". Although we were, and still are the largest class to ever graduate from SHS, we've remained close. Especially those fortunate enough to have remained part of this great community we share. God is so good! We've already misseded you very much. R.I.P. "Chas", mg

Aquila, Karen, Andy and family members of Charlie, sincere condolences, warm thoughts and heart felt prayers go out to each of you. I was privileged to speak with Charlie at the Haskell County Fair this past year 2016. Charlie told me he had cancer and that he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He told me that he had made his peace with God and that he did not think he had much time. Praying God wraps His loving arms around each of you and know we will see Charlie on the other side. Rest In Peace Charles (Charlie) Lee. Your Brother in the Lord, Roderick Hoffman--Manhattan, KS
