Dickie Darline (Cook) Griffin, 93, passed away Wednesday on August 24, 2016, at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit.  Dickie was born on February 21,1923 to Jessie Grover (Brandon) and Montie Lodi Cook in La Junta, Colorado.

Dickie attended Dodge City Teachers College to receive her teaching degree. She met Meryle while attending college. When Meryle joined the Army Air Force, Dickie began teaching at Banner School in rural Seward County, Ks. Dickie married Meryle B. Griffin on July 28, 1945, in Borger, Tx. In 1963 they moved their family to Kansas to live and farm south of Sublette in Haskell County.  

Dickie loved sewing, cooking and especially decorating cakes with her sister, Mickie. She loved her children and attended the births of 11 of her 14 grandchildren. Dickie and Meryle were active in the Sublette United Methodist Church and The Harvest Chapel of Sublette.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Wayne Griffin of Maryville, Mo., and Mac Griffin and wife Kit of Sublette; two daughters, Suzi Watson and husband Marshall of Sublette, and Darlene Carson and husband Bryan of Arlington, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.

Dickie is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Meryle; a brother, Donnie Cook; two sisters, Bonnie Stoops and Mickie Powell.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 26 from 1-7 pm at Weeks Family Funeral Home, 1547 Road 190, Sublette Ks. 

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 2:30 pm at the Sublette United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Banner Cemetery.
