James “Jim” Bennett, age 72, of Dighton, Ks, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015. He was born January 1, 1943, in Scott County to George J. Bennett and Mary Ellen (Fenton) Bennett. Jim married Debbie Wilson on April 8, 1972, in Scott City, Ks.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Debbie (Wilson) Bennett; son, Martin J. "Marty" Bennett; brothers, Robert Bennett of Healy and Terry Bennett of Torrington Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Bennett; brothers, Ralph Bennett and Harold Bennett; four sisters, Margie Bennett, Joyce Blau, Cathy Hering and Mary Weibe.
Jim was employed with Sharp Feed Farms as a Farm Manager and was a Lane County Deputy Sheriff for 13 years.
Jim enjoyed woodworking and bow hunting. He was also involved with Odd Fellows and the Lane County Conservation Board and served as the Chairman for 13 years.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015, 2:00 pm, at the First Christian Church, Dighton, Ks. Cremation has taken place.
