Anna Melba Joyce “Joyce” Thompson, 86, Goodland passed away Monday, October 19, 2015, at the Goodland Regional Medical Center, Goodland, Ks.

Joyce was born to Lonnie and Anna Effie (Trent) Reid on September 18, 1929, in Mullinville, Ks.

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Krien and husband Don, LaDonna Sloan and husband Tom, and Shelley Jantz; Grandchildren, Donnell Pagels and husband Joe, Kristen Krien, Gina Krien, Justin Sloan and wife Sara, Carla Brown and husband Tanner, Sara Saddler and husband Michael, Emily Anderson and husband Evan, Jared Nally, Kelly Sloan, Kasey Phillips and husband James, Ricky Jantz and wife Heather, Sean Jantz and wife Megan; Great Grandchildren: James Umland, Mitchell Umland, Brody Saddler, Hudson Saddler, Emerson Sloan, Deacon Brown, Trae Phillips, Rylan Phillips, Elyott Phillips, Penelope Jantz.

She is proceded in death by her father, Lonnie Reid; mother, Anna Effie Trent; son, John Reid Scheib; sisters, Helen James, Letha Ross; brother, James Reid.

Joyce worked with her mother in the early years managing the Wheatland Cafe in downtown Sublette, later a restaurant and motel in Bucklin Ks. When sugar beets become a profitable crop Joyce and many of her friends drove trucks hauling the sugar beets to town to be loaded onto railcars. Joyce became a bookkeeper at feed yards in Dodge City, Satanta, and St. Francis. She was also a bookkeeper at Alfalfa Inc. and Daubert Trucking, Sublette, Ks. Joyce loved bowling with her friends.

Memorial Services will be Friday, October 23, 2015, 11:00 am (CST) at the Saint Francis United Methodist Church, Saint Francis, Ks.
