Obituary for Robert Dalton Holland

Robert Dalton  Holland
Robert “Bob” Dalton Holland, 89, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the Satanta Long Term Care. He was born November 10, 1927, in Dodge City, KS to Emmett and Mary (Robertson) Holland. He attended Ensign and Cimarron Schools and served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Lois Ginest in 1948 and together they had 3 children. She died in 1960. He married Jacqueline Holden on March 2, 1962, and together they raised their 6 children.

He spent most of his life farming. He also served as Gray County Undersheriff and County Assessor. He was a member of the American Legion. “Bob” was an avid golfer! He was a member of the Cimarron Golf Club. Bob enjoyed organizing the golf auctions and was the auctioneer at golf tournaments for over 25 years. Later in life, they moved to Walsenburg, CO where they opened the Sport Hut.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jacqueline; sons, Randy and wife Marilyn of Alton, IL, James and wife Jan of Sublette, KS; daughters, Becky Woody of Cimarron, KS, Debbie Deforest and husband Marvin of Niwot, CO; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 12 years, Lois Ginest; son, Devin Jay Holland; daughter, Deanna Holland Eccher.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon for friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, 1:00pm at the Haskell County Museum, Sublette, Kansas. Cremation has taken place.
