Obituary for Rev. Michael Ray Satterlee

Rev. Michael Ray  Satterlee
Michael Ray Satterlee (Mike), 68, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, May 28, in Albuquerque, NM. He was born on August 9, 1947, in Lamar, Missouri, to Helen (Elrod) and Raymond Satterlee. Mike attended Lamar schools throughout his childhood and graduated from Lamar High School. He was married to Sandra Morgan in 1967, while attending Bethany Nazarene College, and they enjoyed 48 years of life together. Mike received his Masters of Arts in Ministry from Southern Nazarene University in 1989.
After college in Bethany, Mike worked in sales for Proctor and Gamble and for Baxter Laboratories, then began full-time ministry in 1974. He served 41 years as a pastor in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri. He was an active member of Ministerial Alliances and Lions Clubs in various cities. Mike retired in 2015 and moved to Rio Rancho to be near his family (read: grandchildren). He loved people, fishing, reading, vacationing with family, and playing games. He was a man of family, of church, of commitment and competition.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sandra Satterlee; his daughter, Michelle Satterlee (b. 1974) of Richmond, VA; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff (b. 1978) and Crystal Satterlee, of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Terran, Braden, Eston, and Calyn; mother, Helen Satterlee Bailey, of Carl Junction, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Jan Satterlee, of Bartlesville, OK; and various nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Satterlee, of Lamar, MO, and his sister, Patricia Wallain, of Anderson, MO.
A closed casket funeral will be held at 2:00 on Thursday, June 2nd, at Nevada Church of the Nazarene. Open casket visitation will be hosted at the church from 11:00 a.m. to noon that same day. Interment will take place at the Lake Cemetery, Lamar, MO, following the funeral. Services in Nevada, MO will be directed by Ferry Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the (Jesus Film) Harvest Partners or Gideons International, either online through WeeksFamilyFuneralHome.com or directly to the charitable organizations.
